Employees celebrated at British Engines Awards

Congratulations to our employees who received an award at the British Engines Group Annual Awards Night 2022.

The awards night celebrates our long serving employees who have been a part of the group for 25 years, as well as apprentices in their first, third and fourth years.

Alan Tullock and John Lowes were both awarded for 25 years’ service to the British Engines Group. Alan started his apprenticeship in 1997 at the age of 19 where he trained on Manual Vertical Boring machines. After finishing his apprenticeship he was made part of the team that implemented the first automated scheduling software across the business, APS.

Alan continues to work as a Master Scheduler as part of the planning team, producing the manufacturing schedules for the business and looking at ways to refine and improve business scheduling processes.

Alan is known across the business as a team player who is always enthusiastic when it comes to making improvements and supporting others.

John started his career with the British Engines Group in July 1996 as a Universal Miller and has since progressed on to become a Machining Centre Operative.

Leon Coates, John’s Cell Manager, said:

“John is extremely helpful with all of our new employees and apprentices and his knowledge of machining is second to none. Personally, I hope John continues to work for BEL Engineering until he is ready to retire!”

Well done to our apprentices, James Houghton and Jack Higgs, who both won a 3rd Year Apprentice Award 2022.

James is described by his manager, Ryan Hall, as a real asset to BEL Engineering and has been commended for his desire to learn, attitude to work and willingness to share knowledge. Whilst Jack’s manager, Leon Coates, said that Jack’s excellent approach to problem solving, willingness to challenge himself and can-do attitude set him apart from others.

All British Engines Group apprentices were commended for their outstanding levels of commitment and versatility as they progress through their apprenticeships.
