BEL Engineering Cell Manager Receives NEBOSH Certificate

Leon Coates, Cell Manager at BEL Engineering, has officially passed his NEBOSH National General Certificate following internal health and safety training.

The NEBOSH National General Certificate is a globally recognised qualification in occupational health and safety management designed to give delegates a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of safety in the workplace.

This qualification will enhance Leon’s knowledge and skills to support him in his role, as well as giving him added confidence and competence to work in line with legislation. Within BEL Engineering, the qualification will also enhance the overall safety culture, helping to reduce accidents at our site.

In order to pass the NEBOSH National General Certificate, two modules are completed:

  • Management of Health and Safety: This module covers health and safety management principles, including an exam assessing their practical knowledge.
  • Risk Assessment: This module focuses on applying risk assessment techniques, as well as completing a practical assessment. The criteria includes understanding legal requirements, hazard identification, risk assessment, control measures and effective communications.

The course was conducted by British Engines’ Central HSE Trainer, Greg Harrison. Leon attended the course alongside employees from across the eight British Engines Group companies.

Greg Harrison, Central HSE Trainer at British Engines, said: “Our NEBOSH courses were attended by fantastic students who made a huge effort to take their knowledge of occupational health and safety to the next level.”

“The benefits of completing this course were evident from the first session and our employees continue to implement improvements to their businesses based on the knowledge they have gained.”

Well done to Leon for passing the NEBOSH National General Certificate!
